For this week we were assigned to use 2-factor authentication and ssh for our github profiles. Fortunately or unfortunately (in context of this practice) I had already done the previous, so not much can be written about the previous task.I will of course insert an image to prove the previous.
As for the automation i will be automating the pull of the following repository:
This is the code used for the automatic pull (note that the server automation used for the previous DevOps assignment has been removed)
# Edit this file to introduce tasks to be run by cron. # # Each task to run has to be defined through a single line # indicating with different fields when the task will be run # and what command to run for the task # # To define the time you can provide concrete values for # minute (m), hour (h), day of month (dom), month (mon), # and day of week (dow) or use '*' in these fields (for 'any').# # Notice that tasks will be started based on the cron's system # daemon's notion of time and timezones. # # Output of the crontab jobs (including errors) is sent through # email to the user the crontab file belongs to (unless redirected). # # For example, you can run a backup of all your user accounts # at 5 a.m every week with: # 0 5 * * 1 tar -zcf /var/backups/home.tgz /home/ # # For more information see the manual pages of crontab(5) and cron(8) # # m h dom mon dow command 0 18 * 1-6 1 /usr/bin/git pull origin master /home/ferpart/Documents/Code/gitClones/gitAPobed
The previous script that was added to the crontab, will pull from the aforementioned GitHub repository every Tuesday at 7:00 pm (or 19:00) for the rest of the semester which is the time at which the class is taken every week. A thing to note is that i wrote the time as 18 instead of 19 because the time value starts at 0.
